Camera for Telepathology – Works for RTC
Research Toxicology Centre (RTC), with offices just outside of Rome, Italy, has become the first European CRO to offer their sponsors real-time telepathology by integrating Augmentiqs combined annotation, communications and camera within their laboratory services.
Seeking to attract overseas clients, RTC has adapted Augmentiqs to provide its clients and their 3rd party and peer review pathologists a method for live and online viewing of the tissue specimens from their PC. This capability will significantly reduce travel and logistics costs, while speeding up the time of the study.
According to Senior Pathologist at RTC Dr. Rosanna Manno, “Our first impressions of Augmentiqs was very good. The connection between our microscope and remote computers was very simple and fast. Immediately after a remote viewer connected to the microscope, the histological section in the microscope appeared and the possibility to share in real-time the pathological picture. We examined the lesion at low and high magnification as if we were together at the double head microscope, instead we were thousand of miles away!”
Dr. Manno continued, “When choosing a telepathology solution with a camera, it is very important to consider the microscope camera compatibility for real-time collaboration. It is incredible that the Augmentiqs camera for telepathology has the ability to make real-time photos of the lesion and save it either on my computer, or send it to a colleagues cell phone.”
By integrating Augmentiqs, RTC has taken a proactive approach to improving the toxicologic pathology workflow, which in turn will provide its clients significant cost benefits.
Augmentiqs is proud to partner with RTC in this endeavor.
